Installation

You have two download packages:
  1. Either the click once deployment or
  2. the binary files to run directly without installation.
The easiest way is to run the click once deployment.

Before you install: Please check that you have installed and enabled the Windows Identity Foundation.
To enable Windows Identity Foundation for Windows Vista or Windows 7:
  1. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?id=17331
  2. Download and install the appropriate package for your system.
  3. Windows Vista = 6.0; Windows 7 = 6.1

To enable Windows Identity Foundation for Windows 8 and following versions:
  1. Open 'Programs and Features' in the Control Panel
  2. Select 'Add or change Windows Features'
  3. Enable 'Windows Identity Foundation X.Y'

Use click once deployment

This will work in Internet Explorer and Firefox only.
  • Just click on "Download".
  • A popup will ask you if you want to install or not. Click on "Install".
  • In Windows 8: A popup may warn you that the software will not be installed because the publisher is unknown. Click on "More Information" and click "Install"
  • The "Settings" dialog will appear

Settings

  1. In the settings, fill in the CRM Url. This is the URL to your CRM Website. e.g.
    • https://<orgname>.crm4.dynamics.com for a CRM Online
    • http://crm/<orgname> for your local CRM
    • https://MyCompany.crm3.dynamics.com
    • http://crm/MyCompany
  2. Select the authentication type
    • Integrated, if you have a local CRM and you don't have to enter any username and password when accessing your CRM website.
    • Specify Username and Password if you have to enter username and password in your CRM.
  3. Click on "Test Connection".
  4. Select the queues you want to monitor.
  5. If you visualize the status of the queue, specify the number of hours after that a yellow and/or red icon should appear. You can enter this per queue. Remember that these are numbers, so one and a half hours means 1.50.
  6. If you want to visualize the status, set the "Status Calculation" mode
    • "Status is based on all items in the queue" means that the overall time of all items is used for the status and also the value for the "Longest" column
    • "Status is based on available items only" means that the status and the value of the "Longest" column is referring to items that do not have a worker assigned.
  7. If you want to start the monitor with windows, check "Start with Windows".
  8. You can modify the transparency of the main window via the value "Opacity". 100 means fully visible, 0 would mean fully transparent.
  9. When finished: Click OK.
  10. The CRM Queue Monitor main window opens.
To open the Settings again, right click the notify icon next to the clock on the taskbar.

Using

The main window automatically appears after the start. It lists all selected queues and stays always on top.

Columns in the queue list:
  • Status: Shows the status of the queue, if you have entered the values for "Red (h)" and "Yellow (h)" in the settings. See Settings for details.
  • Name: Shows the name of queue.
  • Items: The number of items in the queue.
  • Available: The number of items that do not have a worker assigned.
  • Latest: The time the latest item in the queue entered the queue.
  • Longest: The time oldest item in the queue spend in the queue. Days.Hours:Minutes. This value depends on the "Status Calculation" setting:
    • "Status is based on all items in the queue" means that the overall time of all items is used,
    • "Status is based on available items only" means that the value is referring to items that do not have a worker assigned.
If you close the main window, the application will still be active. To open it again, double-click the notify icon in the taskbar, next to the clock.
To open the Settings, right click the notify icon.

To exit the CRM Queue Monitor: Right click the notify icon next to the clock in the taskbar.
